Topsfield Little League Overview

TLL is dedicated to providing a fun, safe environment for EVERY child in Topsfield to come participate in this great game!  The TLL Board hopes every kid in town comes out to play for at least one season.  Our town league welcomes every child and volunteer coach, no experience necessary!  This is the place to come learn to play or coach baseball.

Baseball in Topsfield begins with "Winter Sessions" between February & April breaks.  The Spring Season follows, and ends as the school year finishes.  Select  summer teams travel to various local tournaments.   Playing pickup "Fall Ball" during September and October was popular in 2020 & 2021 during the remote pandemic years, and we're hoping to bring it back in 2023 after skipping 2022.

Registration opens in January and ends by March 1
No late registrations allowed after March 1 (due to finalized rosters & Tri-Town schedules)

SAVE THE DATE: 2023 Registration will include Winter Sessions (for 1-6 graders) @ Topsfield Fairgrounds Arena

OPENING DAY is MONDAY April 24, 2023

Below is a guideline for registering your player in the appropriate league. When placing players in a league and constructing teams, the TLL Board works extremely hard to balance Fun, Safety, Skill and developmental needs, Competitiveness (more at the Majors and AAA levels).

While rules require placing all 12 year old players in Majors, we place younger players to form competitive teams against Boxford and Middleton and to best develop players - while keeping roster sizes (and playing time) on target.

Each year we try to keep the grades playing together.  This is not always possible because baseball ages are defined using an August 1st cutoff date, and kids older than 12 must move up to Babe Ruth (larger field).  You can use the age guide below, or the Little League Calculator here.

A helpful guide for placing players is considering where they began (often T ball), where they will finish (Majors as a 12 year old) and then working backward to find the appropriate Division for this season.  Little League's website has excellent age division overviews here
