Over 150 Tri-Town children play in the MYH program, with ages ranging from 4-16. Most children begin in our ‘Learn to Skate’ or ‘Intro to Hockey’ program from the ages of 4-8; MYH provides these beginning hockey players with an excellent developmental program that provides them with basic skills. Once the player completes the developmental program, they are placed on a co-ed travel team that is compatible with their ability level. As time passes, players will move from Mites-> Squirts-> Peewees-> Bantams before entering high school.
If your child moves into town or starts hockey at an older age, we can work with you to find the right place for them.
All levels are co-ed, but there is also the option for female players to join the Lady Chieftains ‘girls-only’ developmental program (U10, U12, U14, U16, U18); given the limited options available for girl-only hockey teams, the Lady Chieftains program welcomes female hockey players from surrounding communities where their town-based programs are not able to offer a ‘girls-only’ program. Many of our LC players play on a co-ed MYH team, utilizing the LC program to supplement their co-ed experience; however, some LC players commit to only playing in the LC program.
